Workshop Description

This workshop will explore several methods of migrating images from film to new substrates. We will supply participants with pre-printed images. Please note that we will not be able to print student's images for this workshop.

Part One of the workshop uses Purell hand sanitizer as the release agent for the image from the film.  This process enables the user to work with porous substrates such as Arches 88 paper, tissue, filter paper, etc. Everyone will make two Purell transfers.

Part Two of the workshop uses a product called Super Sauce. Detailed descriptions of this product will be reviewed and once again students will produce two transfers onto clay paper. This product is useful for transfers onto non-porous surfaces such as metals, wood, boards, etc.

Upon completion of the transfer processes the final results will be adhered to card stock for the preparation of notecards.  The cards may be used for any occasion or bundled as a group and used as a gift. Envelopes will be provided for each card.

Prerequisite:

This workshop is suitable for all photographers or artists.

Sandra Carrion's photography has been recognized for its innovation and artistry throughout her career. Using techniques both traditional and contemporary, Sandra meticulously strives to reinvent her approach discovering underlying worlds hidden in what we walk past every day. She is a photographer untethered, allowing only her eye to dictate what tumbles through her lens.

Ms Carrion is also a founding member of fotofoto gallery in Huntington. She is also currently teaching photography at Nassau Community College.

Lois Youmans' photography is rooted in the exploration of the human condition, its fragile and ephemeral nature, often using damaged antique dolls, or decaying vegetables to metaphorically illustrate her concepts. She uses a variety of alternative techniques and media in her work that reflect her love of antique processes.

Her photographs have been included in numerous group exhibitions in the USA, Italy, China and Russia, as well as several solo exhibitions in New York , Italy and Korea. Louis is a strong proponent of maintaining a community with other artists, and is a founding member and past president of fotofoto gallery, and a founding member of 9 East Contemporary Art Guild, both in Huntington, NY.  She is also a member of Soho Photo Gallery in Manhattan.

Patricia's photographs have been exhibited in the US, Italy and Japan. Recognized in 2014 with the Julia Cameron Award in fine art photography, her work was included in the 3rd International Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography in Malaga, Spain.
